Presentation of the new publication "Il Mito e Il Sacro in Richard Wagner" in Paestum, Italy
The Richard Wagner Association of Ravello, in collaboration with the Wagner societies of Rome and Milan and the cultural association "Amici di Pæstum", presented the first edition of the book by Pietro Tessarin "Il Mito e Il Sacro in Richard Wagner" (Der Mythos und das Heilige im Gesamtkunstwerk) published by Zecchini Verlag.
The presentation was held under the auspices of MAPP - MusicArtProjectPæstum 2019 - under the artistic direction of Claudia Bilotti and with the hospitality of Gabriel Zuchtriegel, Director of the Archaeological Park of Pæstum.
The event took place on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 18:00 in the Temple of Neptune and was moderated by Marcello Nardis, President of the Wagner Society of Ravello.
Richard Wagner is probably the composer with the profoundest understanding of the essence of Attic tragedy who, in his writings as well as his staging of music theatre, interwove the symbolic forms of myth with concept.
One of these fascinating themes is the "Myth and the Holy in Richard Wagner". from the blood of Greek tragedy to the Gesamtkunstwerk (Antonio Tombolini Editore, 2017), a work by Pietro Tessarin.
