Photos:
Siegfried - Sani Muliaumaseali'i
Wanderer -Toto Muliaumaseali'i
Waldvogel - Aivale Cole
We received this interesting communication from a Samoan arts group - proving that Wagner reaches the furthest ends of the earth. This is an amazing initiative.
Talofa lava and greetings,
I write to inform you of our concert presentation
Siegfried; The Wagner Blade
16:30 - 22:30 November 23 2019
St Mary's Church
Putney High Street
London SW15 1SN
Siegfried ;The Wagner blade. is a reduced orchestration of the full opera with a cast of international singers of note with the Rosenau Sinfonia, conducted by Maestro Stephen Anthony Brown.
The concert is presented by The GAFA Arts Collective (GAC) & CLEARPOINT.
The GAFA Arts Collective (GAC) is the UK & Europes first Samoan arts group and our work reflects our cultural roots in the context of western art forms.
Siegfried, will be an opportunity to not only to present this wonderful (and challenging) piece in concert, but also to explore the mythologies that connect cultures. The sword forged by Siegfried, 'Nothung' finds reflect in the Samoan sword/knife, the Nifo Oti. Universal themes such as love, choice, jealousy etc reinforce the humanity that connects the cultural divide.
It will be sung in German, by a cast that whose diverse heritages include Jamaican,English, Chinese, Australian. Notably, we have a world FIRST, as we have three Samoan singers appearing in our concert - including siblings: Sani and Toto Muliaumaseali'i, Siegfried and the Wanderer respectively.
We would greatly appreciate if you would inform your members - worldwide - of our presentation, as we hope to have a full house of Wagner lovers on the night, and we anticipate a great evening!
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries, or further information on our concert.
Fa'afetai tele lava and Thank you
