WS Upper Midwest - Farewell to Michael Ruppert
Dear Friends,
Mike’s energy, enthusiasm, and love of all things Wagner were inspiring to us all. We will miss him.
Mike’s obituary appears here. A service will be held Saturday April 9th:
Cremation Society of Minnesota
Brooklyn Park Chapel
7835 Brooklyn Blvd.
Brooklyn Park, MN
4:00 Visitation
5:00 Service
Reception to follow
Mike was the driving force behind the Wagner Society, having succeeded RWSUM founder Dr. David Cline as President in 2019. Besides being President, he served as Events Chair and used his many connections in the opera world to create a variety of events that we all enjoyed, even as the pandemic raged. He also chaired our Music in Action committee, which has supported emerging local vocalists and brought us inspired performances.
Mike will be hard to replace. We, the surviving RWSUM Board of Directors, will do our best to carry out Mike’s plans for 2022, including a variety of events. We hope to elect new members to the Board at our next Annual Meeting, which we typically hold in the Fall. In particular, we hope to attract a new generation of Directors with a love and knowledge of Richard Wagner’s works and the energy to help us create a greater appreciation and understanding of these works and of Wagner himself, while also encouraging new audiences and performers.

Kind regards,
Board of Directors
