WS Iceland holds its AGM and reelects its President for a further 2 years
The AGM of Richard Wagner Society, Iceland took place 27.6 in Reykjavik. Its president, since 1995, Selma Gudmundsdottir was reelcted for the next two years. The Society´s homepage, which has been under preparations for long, and still is, was formally opened: www.wagnerfelagid.is. Its main goal is providing information, with the society's lectures through the years, articles in magazins and newspapers, radio programmes, Dr. Arni Björnssons research on how Icelandic literature effected the Ring etc, his book Wagner and the Völsungs, is on the website as a whole. The site is so far only in Icelandic except for lectures of foreign lecturers, among them Barry Millington, Lars Lönnroth and Stewart Spencer who all were in Iceland as well as many other distinguished lecturers.
Die Walküre, which was on the plan in Reykjavik at the end of May has been postponed to end of February (27.2). Waiting for to see if this will be possible the Wagner Society also keeps the plans on a Keynote Wagner in Iceland on hold.
