DIRECTOR OF THE BAYREUTH FESTIVAL, KATHARINA WAGNER IS HONOURED WITH THE EUROPEAN MEDAL, AWARDED BY THE STATE OF BAVARIA

On Tuesday 25 October 2016, the Bavarian Minister for European Affairs and Regional Relations, Beate Merk, awarded to Katharina Wagner, Head of the Bayreuth Festival, at the Palace of Prince Charles in Munich, the "medal for exceptional services rendered to the state of Bavaria in the European Union.

Since 1990, the European Medal of Bavaria has been awarded to people for exceptional services of different kinds, in the furtherance of the European spirit in Bavaria, and the Bavarian spirit in Europe.
